Brooke

Brooke
I used to know you
If only it was ever in part
I’m only a little more honest
I’ve only got so much heart

Brooke
I bet you’re a river now
And the ocean can’t be far
But somewhere in those mountains
Is where every ocean starts

No man is an island
And now we’re both lost in the sea
No man is an island
Is this what it means to be free

Brooke
You ran so quiet
Down the west edge of the farm
You fell one drop at a time
From the water lines that they left on

Brooke
I thought I saw you
Winding your way down the street
The sign read “Caution
This leads to the ocean”
This one pours in the sea

No man is an island
Now we’re both lost in the sea
No man is an island
Is this what it means to be free

Brooke
You’ve come so far
You can’t go back upstream
You’re too far past that now
There’s worse things than memories

Brooke
There’s things to say
But waves can’t speak
If eyes can hold an ocean
These shores have been swept clean
